So a lot of the giveaways and author interviews I've conducted over the past year have been sponsored by the folks at Forever Romance, a part of Grand Central Pulishing. They have been awesome and as a thank you to them and to all of you I decided to personally throw a giveaway. ReplyDeleteI am a visual person and my buying/reading habit is influenced accordingly. If the book has an eye-catching cover, I am bound to buy and read it. Sometimes I buy a book just because it got a nice cover without reading the synopsis!

I would say that normally I do not buy books based on the cover. It's usually the book blurb or 'knowing' the author - the book cover is just extra for me.

I have bought books before because of the cover.

I've never actually bought a book because of a pretty cover, but a pretty cover has caught my eye and made me look up reviews on the book. Most recently, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this giveaway!

There have been plenty of books I have picked up simply because of their covers. It is what causes me to try new authors most of the time.

I have been persuaded by a pretty cover before and have been more inclined to try a book based on that...

Yes! I noticed that I usually don't like YA books but the covers are so beautiful that I end up reading them.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the giveaway :)
Ive picked them up because of the cover but havent read unless it sounds good too.

sure - the cover is what first catches your eye, then the authors name, then the description

I definitely make a decision on buying a book if the cover art appeals to me. I then read the back blurb, and I also have to like the author's work before making my mind up. If it looks boring, then I bypass it.

I have picked up a book/or went to it's page on Amazon because the cover caught my eye. But if the blurb, excerpts, etc don't sound interesting to me, I would not purchase them.

Most books I read are because of the cover. lol I love the covers! I wish I could cut them out and hang them up on my walls.

Thanks for sharing some book love!
ReplyDeleteI am a sucker for pretty covers. I have picked up books just because I fell in love with the covers, and have been pleasantly surprised. Then there have been books not so blessed by the cover gods that I have skipped over, then been recommended, picked up and loved.
So yeah, can't judge a book by its cover but it is so hard not to drool.

I have picked up a book based on a cover and it's wonderful when it pays off. It's the first thing that I notice about a book thoguh I will go and read the blurb.

I'll often read a book because I love the cover.
ReplyDeletemarypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
The cover and/or title is what always draws me in and makes me want to find out what the book is about. Thanks for the giveaway!

Many times a cover has gotten my attention and it was a great read. I love covers that catch my eye along with reading the back blurb.

Covers catch my eye all the time but the I have to like the storyline to buy it.
ReplyDeletemce1011 AT aol DOT com
I would have to say yes, because I usually pick my books out by the cover.
ReplyDeleteayancey(at)dishmail(dot)net
I buy books based on the cover whether or not I've read the author before.
ReplyDeletejlane (at) raigroup (dot) com
