Enochian - The language of the divine, angelic magic
Grim - a dimension parallel to the mortal plane. Supernatural creatures live there unseen by mortals and are able to cross over into this dimension.
Preliator - Latin for Warrior; only one known to have ever lived (Ellie). No one knows exactly what she is or what her actual age is.
Reapers - (Author redefined) can be angelic or demonic. They are immortal and come in many different forms (human, lupine, etc). Demonic reapers hunt humans for their flesh and souls. While they bring death, their main purpose is to trap human souls in hell, thereby creating an army for Lucifer which they will use to try to bring about the 'End of Days'.
"Life is going to test you in ways it never has before. Don't let your future change the good person that you are or make you change who you are."
Those were the last words Ellie's economics teacher ever said to her. At the time she didn't realize the significance or the wisdom behind those words. The next day her teacher, Mr. Meyers, would be dead and that would be the beginning of the end of her sheltered existence.
Ellie is looking forward to finishing her Senior year of High School. Her birthday is just days away when Will enters her life. At first she thinks he's a crazy stalker and avoids him like the plague. When he attempts to awaken her memories she only gets bits and pieces. When she wields two Khopesh swords spouting Angelfire while being attacked by a Reaper, well, it's a whole new world. Now it's a race against time for Ellie to regain her memories from her previous lives in order to carry out her job as Preliator.
I gave this one 4 out of 5 stars. A lot of information was thrown at the reader at one time, which often happens in the first book. I, therefore, included a cheat sheet for you at the beginning of my review. I didn't include all the supernatural beings in order to not give away any spoilers, but I thought the ones I included might be helpful to a reader going into this one. Still not sure what I think of the Reaper redefinition and toyed between giving this one a 3 or 4 for the rating. I actually waited overnight to decide. Lots of action and suspense.
