Katherine Slade (Kate) has been attempting to escape the clutches of her husband of 8 years. Not the type of man to just let her go and not likely to let her escape go unpunished she's running for her life. She's eluded him for 6 months, but he keeps finding her. She's trying to figure a way to board the train to Fatal Bluff to fulfill the promise she made to the man who died saving her - to deliver a letter to his brother. With her husband on her heels she's mistaken for Hannah Stockdale, a mail-order bride. Now she will need to do some quick talking to cover up the fact she isn't Hannah and keep herself from getting married to Hannah's perspective bridegroom. Finding out the town's sheriff, Conner, is the man whom she's promised to deliver the letter to complicates things. Her husband after all is a highly sought after outlaw. Hoping to buy some time to earn some money so she can move on, she delays revealing her identity and fulfilling her promise. Love was the last thing thing she expected to find.
I really liked this one. While I grew up watching reruns of Gunsmoke and John Wayne movies I've never been a big fan of western historical romances. This book just proved I've been missing out and will need to rectify my errant ways. Very sad this one is only available in eBook format. All of you without an eReader are truly missing out. Maybe by the release date they'll have a paperback or hardback version? Let's hope. I gave this one a 4 out of 5 stars. This is definitely an author I will be watching. Thank you Ms. Boyce for a delightful read and thank you Carina Press for letting me review the ARC.
